Getting started
What does foliascore actually do?
It connects to your Etsy shop (read-only) and shows you your real Etsy profit — gross revenue minus every Etsy fee, ad cost, refund, VAT, and your material costs. It also tracks inventory and lets you log other business expenses, so you have one place that shows what your shop is actually making.
How long does setup take?
About 60 seconds for a typical shop. Sign up with Google, connect Etsy, and your dashboard fills in while you watch. There are no configuration screens to get past.
Do I need to enter recipes for every product?
No. We map your Etsy listings to products automatically. Material costs are optional — add them later if you want sharper COGS.
Do I need a credit card?
No. The Free tier covers up to 50 orders/month with no card required. You only enter billing details if you upgrade.
Etsy & data
How does the Etsy connection work?
Standard read-only OAuth. You authorise foliascore in Etsy’s consent screen — we can see your orders, listings, and ad spend, but we cannot change anything in your shop. You can revoke access from inside your Etsy account at any time.
How far back do you pull data?
The first sync covers your last 90 days. Once connected, new orders sync via webhook within seconds.
What about my Etsy CSV statement?
You can upload it for extra detail (four-way VAT split, listing fees not in the API). It’s optional — most users don’t need it.
Can I export my data?
Always. CSV, PDF, and Google Sheets — anytime, no lock-in. There is also a "delete everything" button if you want to wipe your account.
Bookkeeping & expenses
Do I need a separate business bank account?
No. Most beginner Etsy sellers don’t have one, and we don’t require it. You log non-Etsy expenses manually (it takes seconds), or upload a CSV statement if you have one.
Why no Plaid / bank sync?
Because most of our users mix personal and business spending on one card. Importing 200 transactions to triage 195 personal ones is worse UX than typing the 5 business ones from memory. We default to fast manual entry plus recurring templates.
Do you do my taxes?
No — we hand your accountant clean numbers. Tax-ready P&L exports come on the Pro tier. You take that to your accountant or paste into TurboTax / your local equivalent.
What about Xero or QuickBooks?
You don’t need either to use foliascore. If you have an accountant who uses one, the Studio tier (coming) will export GL-mapped journal entries.
Inventory & products
How does inventory work?
When you sell on Etsy, stock goes down. When you receive supplies, stock goes up. We default everything to "pooled" — only switch a material to "tracked" when it’s expensive enough to be worth counting individually.
I make my products from raw materials. Will that work?
Yes — there’s an opt-in "I make from materials" toggle that turns on the materials catalogue and recipes. We don’t force this on first sync because most shops can get accurate COGS with a flat per-product cost.
Do you support nested recipes (a sub-recipe inside another recipe)?
Not yet. We use flat recipes plus pooled overhead, which covers the vast majority of makers. Nested BOM is on the long-term roadmap.
Plans & company
How much does it cost?
Free for up to 50 orders/month. $9/mo for 250 orders. $19/mo for 1,000 orders. Studio tier (multi-marketplace) is coming. Full pricing →
What if I sell on Shopify too?
Today we focus on Etsy. Shopify support is on the roadmap — we’d rather do one platform brilliantly than three platforms badly. The Studio tier ships with multi-marketplace.
Who builds foliascore?
A small independent team. We make products in our spare time, and we built foliascore to solve our own Etsy bookkeeping problem first. Reach us at hello@foliascore.com.
